HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

COLERMSA CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Every June 5 of every year is always a special day for all environmentalists all around the world as it signifies the day we celebrate the environment. This year was not exempted as people from different profession across the globe joined in the celebration of the World Environment Day (WED) by taking part in environmental action and becoming an agents of change for positive impacts on our mother earth, our most valuable asset.

This year’s theme is on ‘The Illegal Trade in Wildlife’, which is eroding Earth’s precious biodiversity, robbing us of our natural heritage and driving to the brink of extinction our God-given species of several importance.

Hmmmm  !!! Can’t forget the story of the Passenger Pigeon (Ectopistes migratorius) with all its beauty and special genetic make-up, man due to his selfish and stomach infrastructure mentality killed this specie till the last of its kind was completely driven to oblivion at the Ciccinanti Zoo. Martha, We hope to see you again, because we have missed you and the potentials in you that we didn’t realise.

As an environmentalists in the making, we have decided to celebrate this in such a unique way by taking the news of wildlife conservation to some selected students fellowship around the University milieu. Some of these fellowships are The Redeemed Christian Fellowship (RCF), Chapel of Grace, Funaab and Nigerian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES). At these fellowships, students were educated on the need to conserve wildlife species, its benefits and the possible consequences.

We need your support in the conservation of this wild fauna. Your pledge and engagement will empower people to understand the damage the illegal trade in wildlife is doing to our environment, economies, community and security.

Whoever you are, and wherever you live, please “Go Wild For Life” and save our planet.

HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY.
