Dad is Divine.

DAD IS DIVINE

Growing up as a child was to me an unforgettable experience as i enjoyed a greater amount of love from my dear parents. The first word i learnt to pronounce was the three letter word dad. As a child i got so used to this word that i call virtually everybody i see on daily basis dad until one day when i got the understanding of who a dad was in the real sense.

The first understanding i had about the father is that they are the male parent, the head of the family and the one responsible for the provision of the daily needs of the family. The second is like this that they are an important tool in the hand of God to bring about the fulfilment of his plan for mankind.

As important as the head is to a body, so is the father to the family. Remember, it is at the head that the most important organs, glands, tissues and cells are concentrated. This analogy to a reasonable extent shows to us how important a man is to the family as vital resources needed for the survival of the family is embedded in him.

As Christ is the head of the Church, so also is the father the head of the family in all ramifications. The head is meant to provide direction to the body, it is meant to house the eyes that aids our perfect vision, and also the brain that controls the whole human body. Therefore to be the head of the house in all its entirety, the father must be able to lead the family in the way of God to achieve God's laid down vision for the family and to also provide direction to the family. Failure to do this as a man is tantamount to destruction, lack of vision and direction, vulnerability to external attacks, and inability to fulfils God's mandate as a family.

Human needs they say is unlimited and insatiable, but in the midst of this unending desire, it is expected of a man to do everything within his possible best to provide the basic needs of the family. The needs of the family like food, clothing, shelter, school fees, bills, rentage and many more. He must also be able to meet the spiritual needs of the family, he must be able to regularly feed the family with the undiluted word of God that is able to save the family from the hands of enemies.

In the agenda of God, man plays a very important role in colonising earth for God with heavenly principles. No wonder God created man first in his own image and gave him dominion over everything He has created. No wonder he choose twelve disciples where virtually all of them are men. The idea of man as the head of the family is as old as creation and divinely arranged by God our perfect creator. His expectation on man is that man be the head in everything. Especially in the fulfilment of his responsibility as the head of the family.

At the fall of the first man, Adam, man lost dominion but thank God for Jesus who had appeared to restore unto mankind all her lost glories and dominion and he has also given us the grace and the spiritual enablement to be man indeed.

Most people think fatherhood is all about the name or fulfilling the desire of their parent or keeping cultural demands but let me shock you, it is far from this, it is in the doing, and fulfilling the expectation of God for the family.

Show me a peaceful society and i will show you a man who is living worthy of his calling as the head of the family. Most of the issues rocking our society today is as a result of poor parenting especially in the area of fatherhood. Many father have left their responsibility undone and pay hid to common rashes. Today is a day for us to retrace our steps as fathers and start to do the needful without any iota of delay because delay may be dangerous.

The real concept of fatherhood is really going to oblivion as many young people are really missing it big time in this present dispensation. Many want to marry but are not fully ready to carry the attached responsibility. Many want to marry but don't have what it takes both spiritually, financially, physically, materially and in many more areas. It should not be so. Remember, Dad is divine and not jocosive.

As i join in the celebration Of this year Father's Day, i want to sincerely give it up to a man who has been a good father in every aspect of it. A man whose commitment to leading the family to achieve God's laid down vision as a family has been spectacular. My dad, Engineer Joseph Ojo Ogunyemi has been a mentor and a perfect model of who a true father is. You have been up and doing in the fulfilment of your responsibility and i pray that the good Lord almighty will continue to strengthen and grant unto the grace to continue to be a good father to us all. I love you dearly.

This is also an opportunity for me to plead with other men in our nation to please wake up to their respective responsibilities. I pray the Lord will provide for you all and grant unto you more grace to be man indeed.

This celebration is also a good medium for me and the entire nation to pray for our ailing President,  General Muhammadu Buhari that the Lord will send forth his hand of healing to heal him wherever he is in any part of the world and deliver him from the hand of the wicked ones in Jesus name. I also want to pray for the acting President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo that the Lord will grant him the grace to be a true father indeed and that the Lord of heaven will endow him with wisdom needed to lead our nation right in the absence of the President in Jesus name.

My special prayer also goes to my dear governor, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose and his able deputy governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola and the rest able men responsible for the development of Ekiti State, i pray that the good Lord of heaven will bless and keep you all. He will cause His face to shine upon you all and be gracious unto you. May He release unto you the wisdom required to lead the state to her promise land of Milk and honey in Jesus name.

I won't also forget to pray for church leaders all across the globe particularly leaders of the Anglican communion.

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Revd. Nicholas Okoh, our Bishop, Rt. Revd. James Odedeji the Head of the Diocese of Lagos West, Anglican Communion and to my lovely Vicar, the priest in charge of the Anglican Church of Pentecost Oke-ira, Rev. William Casley Swanzy, i pray that the Lord will empower you all and fill you with more power from above. May his spirit never leave you in Jesus and may the Church of God continue to march forward in Jesus name.

This is very important for me to do. Let me also use this medium to re-affirm my love and commitment to ensuring the regular happiness of the wife that the good Lord the giver of all good things will give me. I promise to be a good father to my unborn children and a good husband to my future wife.
So help me God.

Happy Father's Day.

WHO NO KNOW GO KNOW

WHO NO KNOW MUST KNOW.

In the cause of implementing my laid down plans for this year world environment day celebration, i met with some young and old people around my locality here in Lagos. I took my time to ask a sample of their population questions on what is happening today but i was greatly surprised at their various responses. None of them knew what exactly June 5 was all about. Even when i was explaining to them what today was all about they seem to be uninterested with their discouraging response showing glaringly to me the level of their ignorance on the sustainable management of our environment.

No wonder waste and debris are dropped at the water ways causing hindrance to the free flow of our waste water thereby resulting in erosion and on the larger side flood. No wonder indiscriminate bush burning persist in the midst of civilisation bringing about loss of earth's riches in biodiversity and loss of our precious forest land area and resources. No wonder the misuse of the environment by some people because it is hard for them to give what they don't have. Must we continue in this trend? Must we continue to leave in this ignorant state without allowing the breeze of change to transform our thinking and mindset on the need to manage and protect the environment? Must the educated keep mute while those who have no knowledge about the environment continue with their destructive action on it? What about the consequences of their actions and that of our inaction on the environment?

This is the major reason why environmentalists all across the world have set aside June 5 of every year to celebrate this wonderful complex biotic and abiotic community, the natural world where we find our existence. This we do by educating those who don't know much about the environment and its paraphernalia on the need to know so that the world can be a better place for us to live because if this destructive actions on the environment continues, we are only heading towards an irreversible doom one day.

Remember, there is strength and gain in biodiversity. Shun hatred and let's show love to one another without the exemption of animals. I am very sure our environment will be a better place if we can show her greater love than we have for wears , phones and other mundane things made from the environment. According to the popular saying, "cleanliness is next to godliness", let us endeavour to keep our surroundings clean at all time. Adopt the proper and modern way of disposing waste. Plant a tree to mitigate the effect of some obnoxious gases on the environment and at least the oxygen it produces will be good for us and our neighbours.

If you are yet to join this celebration, you can join by educating someone around you on the need to sustainably use, manage and protect the environment our common asset.

THANK YOU FOREST

THANK YOU FOREST

Oh my God! I just can't believe that my tight schedules had made me forgot the day that has been set aside internationally to celebrate an ancient complex biological community called Forest.

I could have left the day unnoticed but i am very sure Mother earth won't forgive me if i fail to celebrate the benevolent nature of this community that have been supporting the continuous existence of lives on this terrestrial ball from time memorial, a community that have been of tremendous blessings to me and my entire generation. Hence, the monumental necessity of this great write-up.

_"Feed a frog for 3 years and he will remember you for 3 years. Feed a man for 3 years and he will remember you for 3 days"_
-Anonymous.

This is a true saying and its worthy of our careful and critical logical examination. For a Forest community that has been of great help to humanity from creation till now, only a day out of the abundant 365 days of the year has been set aside to celebrate this entity called Forest and yet not many of us even bother to celebrate her and even to those that did celebrate her, it was not done to its fullness.

I know how man bothers much about appreciation. The rate at which man seeks for appreciation and celebration these days is even far more greater than their search for food. We all loved to be loved, celebrated and appreciated most especially anytime we render any service or assistance to our fellow humans. At times we even feel bad and hurt when such an appreciation tarries or didn’t even come but its very unfortunate how less we care about the forest that does for us millions of things that we can't even quantify or measure.

Are we to talk of the magnificent roles played by forest in mitigating climate change? They serves as a sink for most of the obnoxious gases that would have been very injurious to our health.
Are we to talk of the production of quality, pure and fresh oxygen produced as result of the sequestration of these unpleasant gases? If we are to pay for the amount of oxygen we breathe in, how many one of us can afford it even for a week? Ask those on the live support in the hospital, they will tell you how expensive it is and yet we didn’t even value and respect this entity God has been using all these years.
Are we to talk of the the services and goods derived and produced by the forest?
I know a lot of countries and community that depends on this for their survival and economic growth. Too many are the benefits, both the Non-Timber benefits and the timber benefits that we enjoyed from the forest.
Are we talk of the watershed management ability of the forest?
Are we to talk of the amelioration and wind-break potentials of this divine community?
I can continue to mention a lot of these benefits that we enjoy from the Forest because they are countless. This i do not to make you devalue or exploits the Forest the more but to make you see reasons to appreciate her and value her.

Enough of our unlawful felling of our trees!
Enough of the illegal killing of our wildlife resources!
Enough of our indiscriminate bush burning!
Enough of the wasteful use of our Forest resources!
Enough of the anti-forest conservation policies by our government!
Enough of the destruction of forest in the name of development and urbanisation!

It is high time, we started having a rethink. A change of mindset. A paradigm Shift.
It is high time we began to value our forest resources.
It is high time we began to fight against the poachers decimating our riches in wildlife resources!
It is high we stood to fight illegal tree fellers.

It is high time we began to preach the message of conservation.
It is high time we began to make wise use of our forest resources.
Remember, our existence to a greater extent has a lot to do with the longevity of these ancient complex biological community.
The more we decimate it, the greater our problems.
Remember, the last man on earth will die when the last tree in the forest is being felled.

I love Forest.

Happy International Forest Day.

I am proud to be a forester!

THE TRAGEDY OF INCONSISTENCY.

Dear friends,
After my devotion this morning, i was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write something on this very important topic: *When the Roll is called up yonder.*
This is a popular Hymn written by James M. Black the president of a certain Young People’s Society who was once chanced to meet a girl of fourteen, poorly dressed and a drunkard’s daughter, whom he invited to join the Society and to attend Sunday School.
She did this, and attended for a time, but one evening at a dedication meeting, when the Society’s roll of members was called, and each member responded with a text, there was no response from this girl.
Remarking on her absence, the president, Mr. J. M. Black, spoke of the shyness of anyone being absent when the names were called of those written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and then added the prayer, “O God, when my own name is called up yonder, may I be there to respond!”
Wanting something suitable to sing on this occasion, Mr.
Black searched the hymn book, but could find nothing, and after the meeting was ended, on his way home he still kept wishing for such a hymn.
On reaching home the words of the first stanza of a new hymn came to his mind in full. Within fifteen minutes the two following verses were also written down, and then Mr. Black turned to the piano. “I played the music,” he said, “just as it is found today in the hymn books, note for note, and I have never dared to change a single word or note of the song.”
What an inspiring story!
To everything in life, there is a time. A time when we will be born. A time when we will turn adult. A time when we will marry. A time when we will die.
Let us also remember that a time is coming when the trumpet of the Lord shall sound. When all that have been said had been done.
Hmmmm! At least now we have the right to use our time anyhow in the way we like. Some of us can even afford to use our time to gossip, fornicate, lie and on some other ephemeral things. I wish we all know a time is coming when time itself shall be no more. A time we would wish to change from our old ways of life and sinful ways but it won't be possible any longer. We would wish to serve God with all our heart but it won't be possible again because the end would have come.
Just as it is in any academic Institution where records of students names are kept and on regular occasion attendance register are being marked so will it be on the last day when the trumpet of the Lord shall sound.
I could remember during my days in the University how we use to take the issue of attendance very serious because it carries marks and it is of great significance and use to the Staff and management.
At times we go to class purposely to mark the attendance register but to our surprise our lecturers won't even say anything about it throughout the lecture as if he/she knew our mind. If these persist for some time, we might decide to stay back from lectures a day knowing within us that the attendance will not be marked. But unfortunately for us, the lecturers whom at times are good mind readers would take the attendance that day we decided to absent ourselves from class. What a pity. What a marks we have missed.
Hmmm.... Had we known, we would have waited but impatience, distractions and the love of games and pleasures more than class cost us our mark.
The hour and the time that the attendance will be marked is only known by the lecturer and God the all-knowing. It might be marked at the last lecture in the semester or at times at the first or Middle lecture in the semester.
So it is all about our consistency and not about our inconsistency.
Though, we might not really feel the impact of the missing mark in our overall result due to our performance in the examination in the analogy used above but the reverse would be the case when the roll of God is called up yonder and we are not present. We can't make it up.
That you have been a christian for 100 years will not make you meet up with the roll when it is been called, what will make you meet up is your consistency in the pursuance of the Kingdom of God.
Don't allow that distractions, don't allow that sin and pleasure to draw you back.
Determine to follow him consistently today and He will help you.
I will like us to also remember that only qualified and admitted students would have their names on the register of the University. So also will it be on the register of God. Only the names of those that are saved would be on the Lamb's book of life. The painful thing about this is that some can be on this list and yet miss out when the roll is being called up yonder. Therefore the need to emphasize on the word consistency once again.
You might have been reading this story from the top to the bottom. Know this that only those who have accepted and believe Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and are working according to his precept and direction will have their names on the book of life.
You might have been praying, thinking asking if indeed your name is on the book of life by now. Don't think too much, don't procrastinate. Take a step of faith now and confess your sins to God and ask him to write your name in His book of life because a time will come you will be crying for salvation but you won't see it.
Now is the time to cry. I mean a great cry. Cry a great deal till your name is written on the Lamb's book of life.
Remember, Heaven is a place we must not miss.
God bless you.
Share with a friend if it has blessed your life.
I am your loyal Servant;
Olakunle.
