The College of Environmental Resources Management Students’ Association (COLERMSA) in partnership with the Green Impact International (GII), The Achievers’ Group (TAG), Nigeria and the Green Team, FUNAAB organised a Clean-up exercise tagged: TOWARDS A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT yesterday, 28th of April,2016 around her College.
The aims of the programme as stated by the President of the association, Com. Ogunyemi Olakunle Joshua is to practice the theoretical knowledge on environmental management learnt in class, to enlighten the students on the need to secure a quality environment and to create an awareness on the massive cleaning of the whole school coming up next semester all things being equal.
The programme which had in attendance Prof M. F Adekunle, the Head of Department, Forestry and Wildlife Management, FUNAAB, Executive Director of the GII, Mr Bamidele Oni, the Research Co-ordinator of the GII, Mr Ayodeji Famogbiele, the Chairman of the Green Team, FUNAAB and members of TAG was declared open by Dr. O.Z. Ojekunle, the representative of the Dean of the college, Prof C.O. Adeofun who was unavoidably absent.
Speaking at the “Clean-up Exercise”, Dr. O.Z. Ojekunle expressed his joy towards this great initiative and encouraged the students to do more as it is their responsibility to the environment as an environmentalist. Prof M. F Adekunle who took part actively in the exercise also encouraged COLERMSA executives to keep on organising good programme as he promised to support them both in Cash and kind.
Mr Bamidele Oni of the GII, also commended the coordinator the programme for seeing beyond the classroom. He said the nature didn’t need us but we need the nature and on this note, he advised the students to take good care of our home, earth and to also stand up to restore our planet earth.
Some of the students expressed their satisfaction with the exercise and advised that such should be sustainable.
